Thibaut, George, (Trans. ) . THE VEDANTA-SUTRAS. Delhi Motilal Banarsidass 1962 Three-volume set in brown cloth in overall near very good condition with gilt lettering on spines; no dust jackets. Part I (first volume) consists of 448 pp. With commentary by Sankaracarya and with rather heavily bumped corners (with a couple of corner tips showing a trace of fraying) , at least one instance of ink underlining, what resemble small "glue patches" on pastedowns (it's hard to describe these or even to account for their presence since these aren't ex-library copies) . Part II (second volume) , also with commentary by Sankaracarya, has 508 pp. And is in similar condition, although corners aren't as heavily bumped, and we detect no underlining. Part III (third volume) contains 800 pp. And the commentary of Ramanuja, with a spot and one instance of darker-than-usual browning on pages 16 and 17, probably due to something laid in at one time. It is in similar external condition to the other two volumes with a few page corners turned down. Despite their stated "defects, " these three books make an attractive set. Part of a 50-volume set in the Sacred Books of the East Series and first published in 1904 by Oxford University Press. Price:
